Iwahig Firefly watching

...continuation of day 2:

Still day 2 in Puerto Prinsesa, after our escapade in the Underground River since it was still early we all decided to go to Iwahig for the Firefly Watching. From Sabang beach our guide Kuya Ding took us to Iwahig, we run for almost 2 hours going to the place during the long drive we've almost reached dark road.

Iwahig firefly Watching,
Mangrove Eco-tourism & Wildlife Park

We reached the Iwahig River, we proceed directly to our assigned paddle-boat and could start with our paddle-boat tour right away. Each boat is only allowed limited passengers because the scope of the said boat is just petty, only 3 passengers plus one boat-man that why we divided the group in each boat on the first boat it was me, Honeysol & Ruth plus our boat-man and on the other boat is the lovers Gladys and Poy so that they could feel the moment, sounds very romantic lovers under the moonlight.

I was very excited because it is a first experience for me to see lots of fireflies and what comes into my mind is that i could witness Firefly Dancing but I got it all wrong, it was just a Firefly watching hehehe....

We were not lucky enough because that moment it is Full moon, our boat man says the best way to see the fireflies even more clearly is when it is 1st or 2nd quarter moon where there is only little moonlight. The darkest it is the more fireflies you will see. We are allowed to take pictures but are no allowed to use the flash of the cameras because it might scare the fireflies away.

We were not able to took the fireflies in action for we are getting hard of taking because we are not allowed to use flash of the camera I am just using the Night-mode feature of my camera but still we couldn't catch any firefly on cam. So i decided not to take pictures anymore but instead I just enjoy watching the fireflies as they glow one by one and even in clusters. From afar you'll see a glowing trees and you will be amazed because they look like a Christmas lights on a Christmas tree especially if they see red light they light even more brighter.

According to the boat-man when the fireflies saw Red-light glow even more brighter because red-light serves as a treat for them for an opponent coming.

There are different kinds of Mangroves found in this river all are properly preserved and well-maintained with also the help of the ABS-CBN foundation who is one of the main sponsor for the rehabilitation of the Iwahig River and preserve the mangroves in fact it was the founder Gina Lopez-Roy is the one who discovered this area and establish it.

After the tour we took pictures, and i was holding the paddle of the boat it was way too heavy. And we wished to take pictures with the pleasing guides/stuffs but they just seemed to disappear during the picture taking.

The tour run for about 45 minutes in a paddle-boat, and I've learned something about our cruise about preserving the environment. Now I know why Puerto Prinsesa is so abundant because of their Eco-friendly living by promoting Eco-Tourism Project.

This place has a uncommon comfort room, kinda creepy all the way here due to the rare of lights but you'll appreciate the uniqueness of what they have done. (go there yourself for you to judge hehehe...)

We ♥ Puerto Prinsesa

Note: You'll enjoy the firefly watching here, plus the good-looking stuffs and volunteers here.. hehehe... ;)
